Cops, public must unite to curb crime: SP
Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Varun Singla on Tuesday held a meeting with bank managers, commission agents, representatives of market associations and petrol pump owners, to discuss ways to achieve a crime-free state.
During the meeting, the SP appealed to the attendees to get the numbers of the Police Department mentioned in the banks, ATM kiosks, cash vans, jewellery shops and petrol pumps and get high-resolution cameras installed. He said clear footage would be helpful in identifying
criminals.
To prevent crimes, bank managers, petrol pump owners and other businessmen should cooperate with the police and get the police verification of their staff and watchmen done. In case of carrying a higher amount of cash, they should alert the control room and keep the alarms functional and lockers strengthened, he said.
He appealed to all shopkeepers, gas agency operators and other market associations to install high-tech CCTV cameras at their establishments and keep their coverage towards the main road of the establishment as well.
SP Singla also asked the attendees to share information of the people possessing weapons.
Meanwhile, the SP also instructed the police officials to increase patrolling around banks, petrol pumps and jewellery shops to ensure safety and security.
“The public and the police administration will have to work together to prevent crime. The Police Department is doing its job and if it gets the support of the public, it will be even easier to prevent crimes,” he said.
