The Fatehabad police have launched a strict campaign to stop social media from becoming a platform for criminals to gain fame. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sidhant Jain, officers are closely monitoring online activity linked to crime.

As part of the drive, a team led by Fatehabad CIA In-Charge Vedpal and Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, a Social Media Officer, acted against people promoting criminals on social media platform Instagram. During monitoring, the police found that some individuals were sharing crime-related content from an account named ‘sonu_ratia_307’.

Sixteen youngsters were following the account, indirectly helping the promotion of crime. The police immediately issued notices to all 16, summoning them to the Crime Investigation Agency office in Ratia.

The youngsters, from Bhadolawali and Khunan villages, were questioned and warned. Following police instructions, they unfollowed and blocked the account. Their statements and social media details were recorded.

Officials used the incident to raise awareness about responsible social media use.

“If any criminal sees himself as a hero online, the Fatehabad police will make sure he ends up as a villain in jail,” an officer said.

The police warned that promoting crime, brandishing weapons, or following criminals online would be treated as supporting illegal activity.

Jain said: “Every online move is under watch. Anyone following crime becomes part of it.”

Earlier too, on Wednesday, the Fatehabad police in Ratia issued notices to 11 youngsters for following an Instagram account — named ‘king.__of_ratia_0001’ — linked to criminal activities.
