Gangster Surajbhan alias Ballu Pehalwan might have been killed in Faridabad either due to his rivalry with another gang or personal rifts with his gang leader Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, the police said on Thursday.

On Tuesday around 6.30 pm, armed men pumped 25 bullets into 42-year-old Ballu after intercepting his motorbike while he was returning from a gym.

“There was a rift between Ballu and gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, who is not in the country, over some issue for the past few days. The police suspect that Ballu was murdered on instructions of Sangwan. Jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal is also under police scanner,” said a senior investigating officer.

Investigation of the case was handed over to the Crime Branch. Police Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Arya has constituted five teams, who searched more than 500 CCTV cameras installed at the main intersections of the city.

Aman Yadav, ACP Crime, said: “The Crime Branch has started investigating the case. All the CCTVs installed at the main intersections of the city are being checked. Raids are being conducted.”

In a complaint, his wife Rajjo Devi did not blame anyone for the murder.
