Counting of votes for MC polls today

Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh said that voting for the elections of Mayor/presidents and ward members of various Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees across the state was held on March 2. In addition, voting for the post of Mayor and ward members of the Municipal Corporation of Panipat took place on March 9. The counting would begin at 8 am on March 12 and the results would be declared the same day once the counting is completed.

Dhanpat Singh stated that the election results would be available on the State Election Commission’s website https://secharyana.gov.in. During the vote-counting process, no candidate, counting agent or counting staff would be permitted to bring any electronic devices such as mobile phones, pen drives, cameras, laptops, pens, digital watches, etc., to the counting centre.

To ensure proper and smooth completion of the vote-counting process for the urban local body elections, extensive arrangements have been made by the commission in coordination with the district administration concerned.

Election observers will be present at all the relevant counting locations. For security purposes, and particularly for the protection of the EVMs, a police force will accompany the team transporting the EVMs from the strongroom to the counting centre.

Dhanpat Singh informed that the counting of votes for the elections held for the posts of Mayor and ward members would take place in the Municipal Corporations of Manesar, Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar and Panipat. In addition, the counting for the byelection for the post of Mayor would also be held in the Municipal Corporations of Ambala and Sonepat.

Similarly, counting of votes for the posts of presidents and ward members in the Municipal Councils of Ambala Sadar, Pataudi-Jatauli Mandi, Thanesar and Sirsa, as well as for the byelection for the post of president in the Municipal Council of Sohna will also take place.
