Couple booked for illegally adopting girl
Gurugram, August 13
A local couple has been booked for allegedly illegally adopting a two-month-old girl.
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has taken over the custody of the infant. The couple had adopted the daughter of a migrant who gave her up after her husband abandoned her.
The complainant, Pinki Malik, administrator of the Sakhi-one stop centre, said the couple had arrived at the centre with the child on Wednesday. The couple said they had adopted the girl and wanted to get her birth certificate made. When she looked at the adoption letter, it came to light that the couple had illegally adopted the girlchild. —OC
