Sumitra Kadian, Judicial Magistrate (First Class), District Court, Yamunanagar, has awarded two-year rigorous imprisonment to five persons for stealing data of designs of a private company from Yamunanagar, and manufacturing and selling duplicate machines using the stolen data.
In an order passed recently, the judge also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 each on convicts Jaswant, Avtar, Deepak Kumar, Jaspreet and Anil Chhepa. The judge also passed an order stating that in case of non-payment of fine, convicts shall undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 15 days each.
In a complaint, Satbir Singh, GM of M/S Lark Engineering India Private Limited, Yamunanagar, told the police that in 2011, Avtar Singh and Jaswant Singh collaborated with Jaspreet Singh, Deepak Kumar and Anil Chhepa to steal important data and confidential information of his company, including drawings, design and sales data, and started manufacturing machines based on the stolen designs at a firm in Yamunanagar.
After getting feedback from its customers that the aforementioned ex-employees and others were supplying the machinery at lower price than Lark, the firm got a case registered against the accused.
