Court declares UK-based gangster PO in INLD leader’s murder case
The CBI Special Court, Haryana, today declared four accused involved in the Nafe Singh Rathee murder case as proclaimed offenders.
They also included the United Kingdom-based mastermind of the murder Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu. The others are Nakul Sangwan, Atul Gulia and Khushpreet Lather.
Rathee was state president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) at the time of the murder. He had succumbed to 10 bullet wounds, while his aide Jaikishan Dalal died of four at Barahi railway crossing in Bahadurgarh on February 25, 2024, when shooters in a car chased them and fired indiscriminately at the SUV.
According to the first chargesheet in the case, four shooters and gangster Kapil Sangwan were in touch through the Signal app. A GPS device was found attached to the rear of Rathee’s vehicle that provided his live location to shooters.
The login credentials of the device were used from a UK-based IP address from February 8 to March 3 of 2024 by Kapil Sangwan for viewing the live location of the vehicle, says the CBI. The conspiracy to kill the INLD state chief started somewhere in November 2023.
Kapil Sangwan, wanted in multiple cases in Delhi-NCR, operated his gang from the UK. A red-corner notice and look-out circular is operative against him while two blue-corner notices were published against him for FIRs in Delhi.
Two shooters Ashish and Sachin are in custody in the case while the third accused Dharmender is accused of providing the car to the shooters.
