COVID takes 161 lives today, 12,718 new cases in 24 hours

The Haryana reported 12,718 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state so far to 6,28,615.

Gurugram again reported the highest number of positive cases on Monday where 2,749 new cases of the virus infections were found.

Faridabad reported 1,347 cases, Hisar 1,185, Sonipat 878 and Mahendragarh saw 690 new infections.

The fresh cases are slightly lower than the infections witnessed during the past some days, but so are the number of tests.

A health bulletin showed that Haryana’s Health Department tested 49,703 samples at a positivity rate of 25.30 per cent against 55,555 on Saturday and 55,444 on Sunday.

Some 161 people succumbed to the virus, taking the total death toll in the state to 5,766.

The highest 17 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in Panipat, with Hisar, Mahendragarh, and Bhiwani seeing 16 mortalities each, and in Jind and Gurugram, 12 people each succumbing to the deadly virus.

A daily health bulletin showed 16,192 people recovered from the disease bringing down the total number of active cases to 1,13,232.

A total 1,28,792 vaccine doses were administered in the state on Monday with 76,146 getting their first dose and 54646 their second dose.

Till now, 44,88,920 doses have been administered in the state.
