CPM holds workers’ meeting in Rohtak, chalks out poll plans
Rohtak, August 26
The local unit of the Communist Party of India (CPM) organised a workers’ meeting here today and discussed the prevailing political scenario in the district ahead of the Assembly polls that are scheduled on
October 1.
The party leaders chalked out plans to contest the poll efficiently. The district unit had recommended the name of Dr Jagmati Sangwan, a Bheem awardee, to the state leadership for the party nominee for the Rohtak Assembly segment.
“Our party’s slogan in the Haryana Assembly elections is “Remove BJP from power, make secular forces win and send leftist forces to the Assembly. To implement these three slogans efficiently, we have to work day and night,” said Surendra Singh, state secretary, CPM, while addressing the workers.
He further said, “It is necessary to expose the BJP on issues like unemployment, inflation, women’s safety, minimum wages for labourers, legal MSP for farmers and OSP for employees, etc. so that its divisive and caste-based politics can be foiled.”
At the meeting, a proposal to condemn BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut’s remarks against farmers’ movement was passed unanimously.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagmati Sangwan also appealed for active intervention by party colleagues on clean drinking water, sewer overflow, broken roads and poor sanitation system in Rohtak city.
“These issues are the daily needs of the public. We pay taxes for that. Despite this, the issues are not being resolved. If this situation continues, the party workers will not hesitate to gherao the officials concerned. However, the CPM has been continuously taking to streets on these issues,” she added.
