The CPM Haryana state committee has authorised the party’s state secretariat to finalise the number of seats the party will contest in the Assembly elections. CPM state secretary Surender Singh placed the recommendations received from various district committees at a meeting presided over by senior party leader Inderjit Singh.
Surender Singh reiterated the party’s three-pronged electoral approach of the party to oust the BJP from power, to work for an alternative secular government and strive to send CPM and Left representatives in the Assembly.
CPM Politburo member and party’s Haryana in-charge Nilotpal Basu said that the CPM wanted to avoid a split in the anti-BJP votes as far as possible. “It is the responsibility of the Congress, which is the main opposition party in the state, to make seat adjustment with the CPM and other Left parties in Haryana,” he added.
