Several teams of the district administration seized three vehicles and issued challan to owners of 13 vehicles in Yamunanagar district last night.
The teams also imposed a fine of Rs 39,08,500 on the owners of vehicles that were seized and challaned by the teams for their alleged involvement in illegal mining and transportation of mining minerals in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said the teams of the local administration were committed to stopping illegal mining and transportation of mining minerals in the district.
He said a team led by Chhachhrauli SDM and officials of the Regional Transport Authority checked 1,507 vehicles last night. The team seized two vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 8.52 lakh on the owners of seized vehicles.
He added that another team led by the Jagadhri SDM checked 315 vehicles. Owners of 10 vehicles were issued challans to the tune of Rs 25.65 lakh.
The Deputy Commissioner said during the drive, another team of the Radaur SDM checked 391 vehicles.
Owners of three vehicles were challaned by the team and a fine of Rs 65,500 was imposed on them. He further said another team led by the SDM Vyaspur checked 182 vehicles. The team seized one vehicle and imposed a fine of Rs 4.26 lakh on the owner of the vehicle.
“Checking is being done by all the SDMs, the police and mining department officials of the district to stop illegal mining and transportation of mining minerals in the district,” said DC Parth Gupta.
