The ongoing crackdown against illegal wheat hoarding in Sirsa district continued on Friday, as the District Marketing Enforcement Officer (DMEO) team inspected Kargil International Seeds Plant and found irregularities in wheat stock. Over Rs 64,000 was recovered from the unit as market fee, besides penalties.

According to DMEO Rahul Kundu, the inspection was carried out following directions from Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma. The team found that 660.74 quintals of wheat was stocked at the firm premises without proper record and payment of market fee. The firm was charged Rs 32,112 as market fee, Rs 16,000 as penalty and an additional Rs 32,112 as Haryana rural development fund (HRDF) along with Rs 16,000 fine, bringing the total recovery amount to Rs 96,224.

During Friday’s inspection, two other units Paras Seeds and Bhagya Laxmi Seeds were also checked. The stock at both locations was found to be mostly in order, said the DMEO. In another raid with the CM flying squad, officials from the Haryana State Seed Certification Agency and the Market Committee found 817 quintals of excess wheat stock at Rajasthan Trading Company in Sirsa. A market fee and HRDF of Rs 79,412 was charged, along with a fine of Rs 39,200 from the firm. At Shivam Enterprises, 1,053 quintals of extra wheat was found. The authorities collected Rs 1,02,352 as market fee and the HRDF and also imposed a fine of Rs 51,116 on the company.
