Credentials of 103 civic body staffers to be verified in Faridabad

The authorities of the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad (MCF), have launched a drive to verify the educational qualification of its103 employees. Five teams have been deputed for the task.
Revealing this, sources in the civic body said the move to get the educational documents of the employees checked, comes after a report by the office of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), which considered some complaints regarding the educational qualification of certain employees working or recruited in the civic body. According to a communication by the office of the Additional Commissioner, MCF, recently, five teams have been constituted for fact checking. While team number 1 has been assigned the job in Faridabad and Palwal districts, team number 2 has been asked to get the documents checked from CBSE. The team 3 and team 4 have been assigned the territory of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, respectively. The fifth team has been given the responsibility of UP. Officials concerned have been asked to ensure the dispatch of documents to various educational boards accompanied with a visit to the offices concerned.
Sources claimed that the move acquired importance in wake of certain cases pending in courts and in the office of the Lokayukta, Haryana. They said several complaints had surfaced in the civic body in the past few years, leading to legal tangles. While a degree through distance education for promotion of engineering cadre of the civic body has been declared as void. There are at least six cases of such dispute pending in the court, it is claimed. One of such cases has been pending with the office of the Lokayukta for which a hearing is scheduled on October 12 next, it is reported.
One of the officials of the MCF who was demoted from the post of Executive Engineer to SDO a few months ago, was promoted as Superintending Engineer, said an official on the condition of anonymity. “Degrees of officials of the engineering branch should also be verified,” said Vishnu Goel, a social activist.
“Teams have been set up to verify the educational documents of several employees,” said a senior official of the MCF.
