Rohtak Quadruple Murder Case: Crime branch tried to mislead court, says Judge

Rohtak, July 10
Dismissing an application moved by the investigating officer of the State Crime Branch, Rohtak, for the issuance of production warrant of an accused to make him join in investigation, a district court has observed that it was nothing but an attempt to mislead the court and abuse the process of law.
The court’s order pertains to the infamous quadruple murder case of Rohtak, in which a local youth Abhishek had been accused of having shot dead his father, mother, sister and maternal grandmother.
Abhishek’s counsel Shiv Raj Malik had sought bail for the accused, pointing out that he was languishing in jail for several months though even the charges had not been framed against him as yet.
On the other hand, the State Crime Branch, Rohtak, which is investigating the case, recently sought the production warrant of the accused, citing an order of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi.
“It is a matter of serious concern that the State Crime Branch, Rohtak, wanted to get production warrant of the accused issued by misleading the court under the garb of an order of the NHRC,” maintained Rohtak Special Judge-cum-Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Dr Gagan Geet Kaur.
The court’s order mentions that no order of the NHRC or letter dated May 17, 2022, by the Haryana ADGP (Crime), was attached with the application on May 23, the previous date of the hearing, adding that these were produced only on the asking of the court.
“A Copy of the order dated May 23, along with copy of order of even date, be sent to the DGP, Haryana, Additional DGP (Crime), Haryana, and the Superintendent of Police, Rohtak, for information and necessary action. Action taken report be sent to the court,” states the court’s order.
The next hearing in the case has been fixed for July 22.
A copy of this order be also sent to Director, Forensic Laboratory, Panchkula, with the direction to examine the case on a priority basis and send the report on or before the date fixed so that further proceedings may be initiated, said the court.
