A special task force (STF) team of the district police has arrested a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.
Identified as Harender (30), a resident of Noorpur Muzvida village of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, the accused was wanted in at least seven cases of murder and attempt to murder registered against him in the UP.
STF incharge Inspector Anil Chhillar here said the team conducted a raid and nabbed him on the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway last night. A countrymade pistol was recovered from him.
The accused had been absconding since last year after a murder case was registered against him in Ghaziabad, following which the Police Department had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, it is revealed.
Two cases of murder and attempt to murder and another under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act have been registered against him in Ghaziabad, while four cases for fraud have been registered in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.
The accused has been sent to three-day police custody by a local court here. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Camp police station here.
