Culture takes centre stage at Triveni fest

The third day of the 12th Triveni Youth Festival at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, was filled with colour, creativity and energy as students showcased their talents in a variety of cultural competitions. Enthralling performances of folk dances, plays, songs, instrumental music and traditional tunes captivated the audience and infused the campus with a festive spirit.

Folk artist Vishnu Dutt, grandson of the renowned poet Lakhmi Chand, graced the event as the chief guest, while Azad Duhan, announcer at All India Radio, Hisar, was the special guest. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Vishnu Dutt. Dr Manju Nehra, Director, Youth Welfare, along with Prof Umed Singh, Prof Vishnu Bhagwan, Dr Anand Sharma, Prof Hukumchand and Prof Monika Verma, were also present, accompanied by the panel of judges.

Addressing the gathering, Vishnu Dutt said that youth energy becomes truly meaningful when it is combined with creativity and culture. He described the Triveni Youth Festival as a symbol of positive energy that promotes unity, cooperation and cultural pride. Recalling memories of his grandfather, he said folk art and culture are the soul of society and urged the younger generation to preserve these values.

Special guest Azad Duhan remarked that no society can progress without the holistic development of women. He praised the increasing representation of women in every sphere and highlighted that such festivals help students build confidence and teamwork. He also entertained the audience with humorous anecdotes, encouraging youth to channel their energy positively.

Prof Pankaj Sharma, Technical Advisor to CDLU Vice-Chancellor Vijay Kumar, honoured the chief guest with a ceremonial shawl. The event was attended by senior faculty members, deans, directors and principals from affiliated colleges, including Prof Ashok Sharma, Prof Ranjit Kaur, Dr Amit Sangwan, Rajesh Chhikara, Dr Ravindra and others.

The programme was conducted by Dr Chanpreet, Dr Timsi, Dr Deepika Sharma, Dimple and Vikram. The festival will conclude on November 14, when the winners of various competitions will be awarded.
