Curbs on media briefing inside Haryana Vidhan Sabha complex during monsoon session

Chandigarh, August 16
No press briefing will be allowed inside the Haryana Vidhan Sabha complex during the upcoming monsoon session.
Mediapersons have to cover the session from Haryana Niwas, where they can see the live telecast.
Even the CM or Leader of Opposition or any minister have to go to Haryana Niwas if they have to interact with the media.
These decisions were taken at a meeting held under Speaker Gian Chand Gupta for the security of the House during the session.
During the last session, Akali Dal MLAs had breached the CM Manohar Lal Khattar’s security during a press briefing.
Now, a six-member committee has been formed to fix accountability for any breach in security. It will comprise SP-level officers from Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana, besides security heads of both Haryana and Punjab Legislative Assemblies and a nodal officer from Chandigarh.
There will be barricading on the seven common entrances to both houses.
During the meeting today, Gupta cautioned he wouldn’t tolerate breach in security again. The Chandigarh Administration said a duty magistrate would be appointed during the session and he would report to the control room every day.
