A study conducted at Pt BD Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, has uncovered a psychological issue affecting Hepatitis-C patients post-treatment. Despite 95 per cent cure rate, more than half of the patients returned for retesting due to fear and confusion, believing that the infection had returned. The study shows that many patients misinterpret antibody test results or associate unrelated symptoms with the virus. The findings emphasise on the need for better patient education, especially for those from economically disadvantaged and less-educated backgrounds, to reduce anxiety, avoid unnecessary testing and support long-term emotional and psychological recovery.
