Dabwali lawyers continue protest

The sit-in initiated by the Dabwali Bar Association continued for the second day on Thursday. The bar association began a sit-in at the park located here, expressing dissatisfaction over non-fulfilment of their demands.

Pawan Sharma, the president of the bar association, along with deputy president Surendra Thakur, secretary Ankit Naurang and auditor Vinod Kumar, stated that due to the spike in drug trade in the Dabwali subdivisional area, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had declared Dabwali as a police district. However, despite this, people still had to go to Sirsa for NDPS cases and other serious matters.

Therefore, the members of the Dabwali Bar Association had been demanding the inclusion of an ADJ Court and linking of Rori and Baraghuda police stations with Dabwali since January 26, leading to the ongoing strike.

They said their demands included establishment of an ADJ Court in Dabwali and linking of Rori and Baraghuda police stations with Dabwali. The members of the bar association had met Sessions Judges and sitting Judges of the High Court three to four times for discussing their demands, but all in vain.

Pawan Sharma said members of the Dabwali Bar Association had been on strike since January 26 and they started an indefinite sit-in on Wednesday. He asserted that their protest would continue until the government fulfilled their demands and further strategies would be devised, including hunger strikes if necessary.

Advocates present included Ram Singh Saraan, Vikas Kumar Sharma, Amarendra Dhalilinking Rori and Baraghuda police stations with Dabwaliwal, YK Sharma, Om Prakash Gandhi, Mahipal Sidhu, RS Mehta, Bardhi Prashad Swami, Bahadur Ashok Vishnoi, Saharan, Charanjeet Sidhu, SS Barar, Amrik Singh Beniwal and other advocates.
