The complainant told the police that he, his elder brother, Shiv Kumar Handa, and their father Inderjeet Singh Handa had been running the shop since 1998 near the ESI hospital in Jagadhri.

He said he and his brother were sitting at the shop on November 25 when four unidentified armed miscreants entered the place at around 7.15 pm.

“All four miscreants were armed with weapons. They pointed their weapons at us. They broke counters and stole gold bangles, diamond rings, tops of gold, chains of gold and lockets of gold from the shop,” the complainant told the police.

He added that his brother made an attempt to snatch the bag containing the jewellery from one of the miscreants.

“When my brother tried to snatch the bag, a miscreant opened fire at my brother Shiv Kumar, injuring him seriously. He fell and was taken to Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar, for treatment,” the complainant told the police.
