ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (ICAR-NDRI), Karnal, on Tuesday celebrated International Bicycle Day by organising a cycle rally in a bid to promote the benefits of cycling among staff and students.

The event aimed to raise awareness about leading a healthy lifestyle and contributing to environmental sustainability. The rally was flagged off and led by Dheer Singh, Director and Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-NDRI, who emphasised the importance of incorporating cycling into one’s daily routine for physical fitness and reducing carbon footprint.

In his address, Singh encouraged students and staff to adopt cycling not only as a means of transport but also as a step towards personal health and the institute’s collective contribution towards carbon credit and environmental conservation.

Ashish Kumar Singh, Joint Director (Academic); Rajan Sharma, Joint Director (Research); and Anurag Saxena, Head of Division were among the participants of the rally.

The event was coordinated by SUNDRI, the student council of NDRI.

SUNDRI president Prince and 140 students from BTech, PG, and PhD programmes actively took part in the rally.

The participants cycled through the campus, raising awareness about environmental conservation and healthy living.

They concluded the rally by taking a pledge to protect the environment and make eco-friendly lifestyle choices.
