Dalit organisations staged a protest outside the Mini-Secretariat in Hisar yesterday to protest an incident of vandalism of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue in Nangthala village of the district last week. The incident took place on the intervening night of April 14-15, and the police have arrested three individuals involved in the incident. However, the protesters alleged that the main accused remained at large.

Rajat Kalsan, convenor, National Alliance for Dalit Human Rights, led the protesters and demanded the immediate arrest of the remaining accused.

They submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Chief Minister, to an administrative officer, insisting on the arrest of the main accused and the inclusion of SC community members as complainants and witnesses in the FIR.
