Damaged roads causing traffic congestion in Gurugram: Report
There are more than 60 roads in Gurugram city that are dotted with potholes up to 1-2 ft and require urgent repair. This was revealed in a report released by the traffic police.
The report states that the poor condition of roads often leads to traffic jams and pose a risk of accidents. The traffic police have shared the report with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG), and urged them to get these road stretches repaired for commuters’ convenience.
According to the reports of traffic police Inspectors (West 1, 2 and 3), there are deep potholes on both sides of the road from Rezang La Chowk to the T-point of Sectors 21 and 22. The Rao Gajraj Singh Marg has also turned into potholes. There are potholes near the Pasco traffic signal. The road near Atul Kataria Chowk is damaged. Potholes have also come up on the road due to the breakage of the water pipeline on the road from Sector 5 to Palam Vihar.
The condition of the road at the T-point of Sector 37 is also extremely poor. The road from Pataudi Road via Himgiri Chowk to the Sector 10 bus stop, Dada Bhaiya Chowk, Sector 9 main road, near Khandsa Chowk police booth, Sethi Chowk, Kadipur road to Pataudi Chowk, Sant Nirankari Bhawan, Bhuteshwar temple to Pataudi Chowk, Basai Road and Khandsa Mandi are in a poor condition.
The report of traffic police Inspector (4) states that there are deep potholes on Kakraula-Bhangrola T-Point to IMT Manesar road, near Sector-7 boosting station, Jai Singh Chowk to T Point, from Sector-90 roundabout to Kakraula-Bhangrola bus stop, Jai Singh Chowk to Sector-83 roundabout, Sati Chowk to Sector-90 roundabout, Wazirpur Chowk, SS Plaza and DPS School in Sector-84, Pataudi-Bilaspur Road, Jai Singh Chowk to the Rampura flyover.
The traffic Inspector of Dwarka Expressway has revealed that from the Daulatabad flyover to Dwarka Expressway and Dhankot canal to Dwarka Expressway, there are potholes on many portions. According to traffic Inspector (East I), the road is damaged near pillar numbers 66, 69 and 70 of MG Road. The roads near Bristol Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Vatika First India Palace, Guru Dronacharya Metro Station also demand repair.
In the report of traffic inspector (East III), it has been found that the roads from Satpal Mittal Marg towards Mayfield Garden, from Wazirabad Chowk to Sushant Lok’s G Block, from Wazirabad to AIT Chowk, Mayfield Garden, Samspur Tigra T Point, Ambedkar Chowk and from RD City to Artemis Hospital were damaged in the last monsoons.
According to traffic Inspector (East IV), potholes have developed on the road from Faridabad Toll Plaza to Khushal Chowk, Golf Course Extension Road, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Ghata Power House, M3M Urbana Chowk in Sector 67. Apart from this, the service road near SPR, Sheeshpal Vihar, Bakhtawar Chowk, Sohna road to Bhondsi road, Arrea Mall to Aklimpur via Tikli, IFFCO Chowk Bus Stop, U-Turn near ABW Tower at IFFCO Chowk and Manesar Bus Stop towards Jaipur from Delhi are also in a bad condition.
MCG Chief Engineer Manoj Kumar said the civic body had already issued many tenders. “We will repair all the roads that fall under the jurisdiction of the civic body by the end of April,” he said.
A senior GMDA official said they had also floated tenders to construct and repair many roads, including the 5.5-km stretch of the southern peripheral road, which would be completed before the onset of the monsoon season.
