A day after the video went viral on social media in which a girl was seen coming out of a suitcase at OP Jindal Global University, the university administration suspended all students involved in it and also served them show-cause notices.

The university said it was a ‘prank’ played by some students within the girls’ hostel.

The whole matter reportedly came to light after the wheel of the briefcase broke and the girl shouted from within. The university security staff then opened the suitcase and brought the girl out from it.

As per the university statement, the girls’ group was playing a prank on their friend within the girls’ hostel. They were carting the girl in a suitcase and took her outside to the grounds and upstairs.

The incident moved to a public area inside the girls’ hostel common area under the CCTV, where security guards noticed suspicious activity around the suitcase. The security opened the suitcase in the presence of the university officials and the girl came out.

Taking a serious note of the incident, the university administration suspended all students involved in the incident and also served them show-cause notice in which they were directed to appear before the disciplinary committee of the university by the end of April.

“The incident involved a group of students playing a prank within the girls’ hostel, which unfortunately escalated to a public area where the security intervened. All students involved have been issued show-cause notices and will face the disciplinary committee. The university takes student security very seriously and we have taken effective and immediate action in the matter,” said Anjoo Mohun, Director, Public Relations, Jindal Global University.
