DC bans use of drones in Ambala

In view of security concerns, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer has imposed a ban on the use of drones.

As per the orders issued by the DC, the misuse of drones to target the defence establishments and installations by anti-national elements cannot be ruled out. A ban has been imposed within a distance of 3 km from the perimeter of any civil and defence airport, military installation, and district secretariat, and within 2 km from the perimeter of strategic locations and vital installations.

The orders read that with a view to securing the aerial space near vital installations and highly populated areas, it has become imperative to discontinue the use of drones in all social and cultural gathering to evade any risk of injury to the life and damage to property. A ban has been imposed on the usage and transport of drones in the territorial jurisdiction of Ambala without prior permission.

Government departments and agencies authorised by the competent authorities using drones for mapping, surveys, surveillance and other activities shall inform the SDM Office and local police station before undertaking any such activity in public interest.
