DC forms four teams to check illegal mining in Yamunanagar

The teams have been tasked with round-the-clock monitoring and strict action against individuals found involved in illegal mining operations.

The order followed a recent review meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner with officers of the district administration to address the growing problem. During the meeting, Assistant Mining Engineer (AME) Dr Rajesh Kumar informed that the department had been receiving frequent reports of illegal mining from villages including Ranjitpur, Kathgarh, Bhagwanpur, Nagli-32, Bailgarh, Ballewala, Tajewala, Mohiuddinpur and several others.

Dr Kumar said eight checkpoints had already been established to check illegal operations within these areas. Legal proceedings were being initiated against vehicles and individuals found transporting illegally mined minerals through these points after lodging cases at police stations. He added that due to limited staff in the Mining Department, additional personnel from other departments had been deployed to assist enforcement efforts.

After consultations with Superintendent of Police, officers of the Enforcement Bureau, SDMs of Chhachhrauli and Radaur, and officials from the Irrigation Department, the DC directed the formation of the four teams.
