DC reviews flood arrangements on Yamuna border in Sonepat
Deputy Commissioner Dr Manoj Kumar Yadav on Wednesday conducted an inspection along the banks of Yamuna borderand reviewed the work done for flood control at various places.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday chaired the 56th meeting of the Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board and instructed the deputy commissioners to survey existing stone studs and ensure timely repair of these.
Following the CM’s directions, the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday along with the officials of the Irrigation Department visited the 41.74 km long Yamuna border in the district at Bega, Mimarpur, Tikola ghats in the Sonepat area and Bhaira Bankipur ghat under the Delhi division and reviewed the stone studs constructed by the Irrigation Department to prevent Yamuna river from flooding.
The DC also reviewed old constructed studs and their repair works so that no problem should occur during the rainy season.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to review the situation of the area falling under the Yamuna border from time to time and if any soil erosion was found at any place a stone stud should be made there immediately.
Yadav also warned that he would initiate action against those tampering with the flow of the Yamuna. He also interacted with the villagers there and also directed the officers to keep a strict watch on the villages adjoining the Yamuna to stop illegal mining. "If any person is found involved in illegal mining,strict action will be initiated against him immediately," the DC directs.
RK Bodwal, Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Department along with XEN Gulshan Kumar, XEN Manjeet Hooda of Delhi division and SDO Kailash Chander were present during the visit.
After visiting the Yamuna border, the Deputy Commissioner also visited the Women Awareness Management Academy (WAMA) building in Rai, constructed by the Women and Child Development Department and directed that the hostel and principal’s residence should be repaired so that the building can be used for administrative work. He also directed that the WAMA’s building should be cleaned properly.
