Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan visited the Yamuna river to review flood-control measures and preparedness to deal with flood-like situation. He examined the embankments constructed by the Irrigation Department at Bhaira Bankipur and Dahisara Ghat in Delhi Division.
The DC said due to heavy rains in the hills and some districts of Haryana water level in the Yamuna had recorded a rise. Sarwan said people living within the Yamuna catchment area should be alerted in case water level rises and be shifted to safer places if needed.
The DC also inspected Drain No 8 passing through Bhaira Bankipur and Akbarpur Barota to assess the flow of water. He stressed that polluted water should not be released into the drain, and officials should keep an eye on this.
