DC: Set up checkposts to curb illegal transportation of mining materials
To curb illegal transportation of mining materials, Deputy Commission Vivek Bharti has issued the orders for setting up of three checkposts in Nangal Choudhary, Nizampur and Bawal villages in the district.
He has also directed the concerned officials to form a dedicated inter-departmental team, under the supervision of the Nangal Chaudhary SDM, to check illegal activities between 8 pm and 8 am.
The directions were issued by the DC while holding a meeting with officials and sarpanches of villages where mining activities are carried out. At the meeting, he highlighted the critical role of sarpanches in protecting the district’s mineral resources, urging them to act as caretakers and immediately report illegal mining to the administration. Bharti reaffirmed that strict legal actions are being taken to combat illegal mining in the district.
On the occasion, the district mining officer shared information regarding mining activities, including reports of local individuals attempting illegal stone mining in the Aravalli forest area, specifically in various village boundaries. “Legal actions have been ongoing and the mining department is committed to addressing these violations,” he added.
Additionally, the DC instructed SDMs to conduct surprise inspections and coordinate with the Forest Department to prevent illegal mining activities in the Aravalli forest area.
To strengthen enforcement, SP Pooja Vashisht said 15 police personnel would be deployed to monitor and curb illegal mining.
