Haryana DCs told to make arrangements for participants at block, district level

To make ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Mahasammelan a success, the Development and Panchayats Department has asked deputy commissioners (DCs), chief executive officers (CEOs) of zila parishads, block development and panchayat officers (BDPOs) of all districts to make arrangements for a gathering of 500 to 1,000 participants at the block and district levels.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address all self-help group members across the country through live streaming at the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Mahasammelan tomorrow, while a state-level function will be organised in Karnal in this respect, wherein Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be the chief guest and BJP state president Nayab Singh Saini will be the guest of honour.

In a communiqué issued to the DCs, CEOs and BDPOs by the Department of Development and Panchayat states that the number of participants between 10,000 and 15,000 is expected in the state-level function, hence the authorities concerned have been asked to make arrangement for tents, sittings, food, live webcast (audio and visual), and transportation, accordingly.

It has also been mentioned in the communiqué that the expenditure to be incurred to make these necessary arrangements will be donefrom the zila parishad fund and panchayat samiti fund.

“The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ programme, implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, aims at catalysing economic empowerment and financial independence among women in rural areas. ‘Lakhpati Didi’ is a self-help group member, who earns an annual household income of Rs 1 lakh or more. This income is calculated for at least four agricultural seasons and/or business cycles, with an average monthly income exceeding Rs10,000, so that it is sustainable,” said an official.

In view of the directives, the administrations of various districts on Tuesday finalised the preparations to ensure the success of the event.

The district-level programmes will be organised at DRDA hall in Rohtak district, Pt Nehru Post Graduate Government College in Jhajjar, Government Senior Secondary School ground at Bawal in Rewari district and an auditorium adjacent to the mini-secretariat at Narnaul in Mahendragarh district.

Meanwhile, Monika Gupta, DC, Mahendragarh, held a meeting of district officials and instructed them regarding the programme.

“After the PM and the CM’s address, many training sessions will also be held throughout the day under which self-help groups will be given vital information regarding the Lakhpati Didi Livelihood Scheme, economic management and business development plan and statutory requirements. Residents will be given information about the method of spraying medicines and nano urea in crops through drones,” Monika added.

Rohtak DC Ajay Kumar said the CEO of zila parishad had been made the nodal officer and the preparations for the event were in final stages.
