‘Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana’ launched for women empowerment

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today launched the ‘Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana’, under which eligible women will receive Rs 2,100 per month directly in their bank accounts. The scheme, aimed at financial empowerment of women, is expected to benefit around 20 lakh women in its first phase.

The launch was held at a state-level ceremony at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. On the occasion, Saini also unveiled a dedicated mobile application for registration and grievance redressal under the scheme.

“To address difficulties faced during the application process, we have also released a toll-free number (18001802231) and a helpline (0172-4880500),” the CM said. Live registration of five women was carried out during the programme.

According to Saini, the app witnessed nearly 50,000 downloads within hours of launch, with 8,000 women already submitting applications. The scheme is open to both married and unmarried women aged 23 to 60 years, belonging to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1 lakh. Importantly, any number of eligible women in a household can apply.

The government has earmarked an annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore for 2025-26 for the initiative. “The scheme has been launched with complete transparency and simplicity. Women will not need to visit Common Service Centres or government offices; they can apply directly from their homes,” Saini said, urging girls to apply as soon as they turn 23.

The Chief Minister added that the initiative fulfills the 42nd promise out of the 217 commitments in the government’s ‘Sankalp Patra’. He assured that 90 commitments will be fulfilled by year-end.

Recalling the Centre’s pro-women initiatives, Saini said, “The ‘Nari Vandana Bill’ has ensured 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies. Campaigns like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, ‘Beema Sakhi Yojana’, ‘Drone Didi Yojana’ and ‘Lakhpati Didi’ have empowered lakhs of women across the country.”

He further said in Haryana, the government has targeted to create 5 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’, of which 2.13 lakh women have already been empowered. Under the ‘Drone Didi Yojana’, 100 women have received drones and training, while another 100 will be trained this year.

During the programme, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 326.25 crore, including 31 health projects (Rs 78.04 crore), the foundation of 97 projects (Rs 78.12 crore) and renovation of 10 health institutions (Rs 80.72 crore). Additionally, one project each of the PWD and Urban Local Bodies worth Rs 89.37 crore was also launched.
