Deepak Prakash takes over as Karnal IMA chief
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karnal unit held a special event to mark the formation of its new executive committee, with Dr Deepak Prakash taking over as the president for the 2025-26 tenure.
In his address, Dr Prakash expressed his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities with utmost dedication and sincerity. He revealed that IMA’s slogan for the year would be “empowering holistic well-being.” His primary focus will be on strengthening the bond between doctors and patients by addressing any gaps with mutual understanding and harmony. Additionally, Dr Prakash emphasised that the IMA will work towards spreading awareness about the state government’s welfare policies among the public. “Doctors serve society with utmost dedication, often risking their own lives. The IMA team will remain united in facing any crisis and we pledge to build a better society based on communication, trust, and compassion,” he affirmed.
The outgoing president of the IMA Karnal unit, Dr Rohit Sadana, felicitated Dr Prakash with the Medal of Honour and extended his best wishes to the new executive team. Dr Sadana also highlighted IMA’s active involvement in various social initiatives over the past year and expressed confidence that the new team would continue introducing innovative programs.
The newly appointed executive committee of the IMA Karnal unit includes Dr Gaurav Bhaskar as general secretary, Dr Poonam Kapoor as finance secretary and Dr Gaurav Thami along with Dr Priyanka Singh Mimani as joint secretaries. Dr Abhay Kumar Sood was honoured with the prestigious Hall of Fame Award, while several other doctors were recognised for their outstanding contributions throughout the year.
The event was attended by IMA mentors and senior doctors, including OP Miglani, Gagan Kaushal, Sanjeev Arora, Ajay Kapoor, Iqbal, Pramod Garg, Rajat Mimani, Arvind Bhai, Sachin Paruthi, Naveen Gupta, Ruby Prakash, Bhavna Sharma, Davinder Thami, Aarti Kaushal, along with many other IMA members and doctors in large numbers.
