The ongoing indefinite dharna by villagers over a hospital that is yet to be built in Ramgarh-Bhagwanpur has received a boost with INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda extending their support for the protest.

Led under the banner Ramgarh-Bhagwanpur Hospital Banao Sangharsh Samiti, the protest has drawn support from several neighbouring villages. Villagers reminded the leaders that the government had initially chosen the Ramgarh-Bhagwanpur site for the hospital and that community members had voluntarily offered land for the project as well as for a water works unit — on the strict condition that the hospital would be built there.

“Now the government is going back on its promise and considering other sites, compelling us to continue this agitation,” said Tej Singh, a representative of the Samiti.

Speaking on the occasion, Chautala said the INLD stands firmly with the protesters and is ready to fight for their cause. “I will speak to Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and his daughter, Health Minister Arti Rao and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini over this matter. The INLD fully supports your demand. Whenever you need me, just send a message, you will find me standing with you, along with my supporters,” he added.

Terming the villagers’ demand as “completely justified,” Hooda, accompanied by former Rewari MLA Chiranjeev Rao urged the state government to fulfil its commitment without delay. “The government should interact with the villagers and resolve the issue by accepting their demand,” Hooda added.

Anil, another leader of the Samiti, claimed residents from Turkiyawas, Budana, Budani, Fideri, Sunaria, Fadni, Mirpur, Mandhaiya Kala and Gokalpur villages participated in the sit-in protest on Tuesday.
