As August began, people woke up to a fresh spell of rain across the state. During the month of July, the state witnessed an uneven distribution of monsoon, with some districts recording a good rainfall, while others — particularly paddy-growing districts — received below normal rainfall. Farmers in paddy-growing districts are hopeful that the rain in August might bridge this gap, especially in the areas along the national highway and other low-rainfall zones.
