Around 100 students of various courses — including MSc, MCom, MA, BCA, BSc, BCom and BA — received their degrees during the 56th convocation ceremony of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, held at the college’s Dewan Anand Kumar Auditorium. Lt Gen RK Sawhney (retd), PVSM, AVSM, was the chief guest at the event, and Vice-Admiral Satish Soni (retd), PVSM, AVSM, NM, who is the honorary secretary of the Dyal Singh College Trust Society, was the guest of honour.

The ceremony commenced with a guard of honour by NCC cadets, followed by the signing of the visitor’s register and roll of honours by the chief guest.

Principal Dr Ashima Gakhar presented the annual report, highlighting the achievements of the students and the faculty, as well as the various events organised at the college along with the overall progress of the college over the past year, and her vision for the future.

The principal exhorted students to carry forward the legacy of college in their future endeavours.

She encouraged them to strive to be the best versions of themselves, dream big and never stop learning.

Convocation convener Rajpal Singh briefed the gathering about the event.

At the prize distribution ceremony, 54 students were recognised and given prizes for excellence in academics by the chief guest.

A special prize was also awarded for excellent women entrepreneurship to an alumna entrepreneur.

While addressing the convocation address, Lt Gen RK Sawhney acknowledged the vision of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia and the selfless efforts of the trustees in establishing the college in Karnal, and strengthening it. He encouraged the graduates to pursue excellence, avoid any shortcuts in life and contribute meaningfully to society.

The ceremony concluded with a closing declaration by the principal.

A formal vote of thanks was presented by co-convener Dr Ritu Sharma.
