One-hundred-fifty students — 100 graduate students and 50 postgraduate students — received their degrees during the convocation and annual prize distribution programme of DAV PG College here on Saturday. About 70 students were honoured for their excellence in academics, cultural activities, sports, NSS and NCC.

The chief guest for the event was Dr Yashpal Yadav, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Haryana, while Ramesh Verma, vice-president, DAV PG College Management Committee, presided over the function.

Principal Rampal Saini welcomed the guests, and highlighted the achievements of the college, providing a brief overview of the college’s academic, cultural and sports achievements, and NSS and NCC activities.

He also talked about plans for the college’s holistic development. He emphasised the importance of education as a fundamental tool for the overall personality development of students. He encouraged students to contribute to the country’s progress.

Addressing the students, Dr Yadav highlighted their crucial role in nation-building.

“Students are the driving force behind progress, and that the country needs strong leadership,” he said.

One’s talent and abilities led to success, and self-confidence empowered a person, the chief guest added.

Sharing various inspiring examples, Dr Yadav stressed the importance of discipline in learning. He asserted that dedication was key for success. He advised students to not blame “the system”, but enhance their abilities. The vice-president lauded the achievements of DAV PG College and congratulated the principal, staff and the students for their efforts.

Recognising the significance of International Women’s Day, the chief guest and the principal honoured the college’s non-teaching female employees with gifts, appreciating their dedication and contributions to the institution.
