As the Rohtak Municipal Corporation elections draw near, the BJP is ramping up its campaign efforts with a strategic blend of micro-management and high-profile campaigning. In its final push to retain the Mayor's seat in the March 2 civic body polls, the party has roped in Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to lead a high-stakes roadshow on February 28, the last day of electioneering.

Will uplift morale of party workers

The visit of Delhi Chief Minister will uplift the morale of party workers in Rohtak and impact other poll-bound districts as well.

Roadshow route

The roadshow will start from Kathmandi and pass through Jhajjar Road, Agrasen Chowk, Railway Road, Bhiwani Road and Delhi Gate before culminating at Gohana Adda.

Micro-management team

Ward-wise incharges & co-incharges: 47 members

Key leaders: Sarita Narayan (former MLA), Om Prakash Bagri (ex-Municipal Council chairman)

Focus areas: Booth management, voter mobilisation, campaign coordination

Gupta, who hails from Nandgarh village in Jind district's Julana block, holds deep regional ties, which the BJP aims to leverage in its bid to sway voters. “Rekha will lead a roadshow in Rohtak city on the final day of campaigning. This is a strategic move to woo both women voters and the influential business community, particularly the Baniya community, which plays a key role in the municipal corporation area,” said party sources.

The outgoing Mayor, Manmohan Goyal, also belongs to the Baniya community, making Gupta’s visit particularly significant. Her roadshow will navigate key markets and neighbourhoods of Old Rohtak, passing through bustling spots like Kathmandi, Jhajjar Road, Agrasen Chowk, Railway Road, Bhiwani Road and Delhi Gate, before culminating at Gohana Adda.

“Her visit is expected to energise the party’s grassroots workers and attract more voters to our side. It will also positively influence other poll-bound districts in Haryana,” said Shamsher Kharak, BJP’s state media co-coordinator. He highlighted that this would be Rekha Gupta’s first visit to Haryana since becoming Chief Minister, adding further weight to the campaign event.

Gupta’s presence is also designed to resonate with women voters, given her reputation as a strong advocate for women's issues, while her connection to Haryana’s business community is expected to solidify support in critical urban pockets.

In parallel with star-powered campaigning, the BJP has deployed a meticulous micro-management strategy, appointing ward-wise in-charges and co-incharges to streamline the campaign. A team of 47 members, including seasoned leaders such as former MLA Sarita Narayan and ex-Rohtak Municipal Council chairman Om Prakash Bagri, has been tasked with overseeing booth-level management and ensuring smooth coordination during the polls.

“These appointees are key to our ground strategy. They’re responsible for monitoring campaign activities, mobilising voters and providing regular feedback to senior party leaders,” said a senior BJP leader.

With Rekha Gupta’s roadshow set to be a grand finale to the campaign, party insiders are confident of a significant boost in voter sentiment. However, Opposition parties are closely watching the event, aware of the potential sway such high-profile campaigning could have in the final days before polling.
