Bharatiya Kisaan Union (Charuni) president and Samyukt Sangharsh Party president Gurnam Singh Charuni extended his support to the campaign for a separate capital and High Court of the state on Wednesday. He emphasised that a separate capital and high court are necessary for the state’s development. He said he would include this issue in his election manifesto.

Addressing mediapersons on the platform of ‘Haryana Banao Abhiyan’, he said, “This campaign has been getting momentum as hundreds of people have joined it. Meetings will be held with all gram panchayats in Haryana to mobilise public opinion and strengthen their demand.”

He said a resolution was passed in support of the campaign, demanding the Haryana government address the problem.

Former Chairman Punjab and Haryana Chandigarh Bar Council Randhir Singh Badhran said members of the campaign would reach out to every village in the state to mobilise public support on the problem.

He said, “We are demanding a separate high court and the capital of the state. The creation of a separate high court in Haryana is necessary for the establishment of a separate bar council. Around 14 lakh cases are pending in various districts and sub-divisional courts, and over 6 lakh cases are pending in the High Court. Nearly 45 lakh people are involved in litigation, and most litigants are affected by delays in case resolutions.”

He said Haryana and Punjab need separate high courts for speedy disposal of cases.
