Demolition drive at 4 illegal colonies in Yamunanagar

A team of the Town and Country Planning Department recently carried out a demolition drive at four unauthorised colonies in three villages of Yamunanagar district.

District Town Planner Rajesh Kumar said four unauthorised colonies were being developed in the revenue estate of Chaneti, Kait and Mamli villages, falling under the urban area of Jagadhri tehsil of the district.

He said during the drive the team demolished kutcha roads, foundations, three industrial constructions up to the roof level, and four walls.

These colonies were being developed on 10 acres, he added. He said notices were issued to defaulters as per rules. “The drive was conducted as the land owners/promoters did not take necessary permissions before carving out illegal colonies,” Kumar said.

He added that, as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, the colonies were being demolished and action was being taken against the promoters of unauthorised colonies.

He appealed to the people of the district to not invest their hard-earned money in such colonies and to contact the DTP office before buying plots in such colonies.

“Before carrying out any construction in the controlled area, one can apply on the portal of the Town and Country Planning Department to obtain permission for land use change, and, if required, the DTP’s office can be contacted for more information on any working day,” Kumar said.
