Demolition drive targets unauthorised colony in Bilaspur
A team from the District Town Planner (DTP) office carried out a demolition drive in an unauthorised colony in Bilaspur town, Yamunanagar district. The operation focused on demolishing a network of ‘kachcha’ roads and damp proof courses (DPCs) spread across two acres of land.
DTP Rajesh Kumar explained that the drive was conducted following the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Captain Manoj Kumar. The demolition is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle unauthorised colonies and take action against the promoters responsible for their establishment.
Notices were issued to the promoters of the illegal colony in accordance with the Control Area Act, 1963, section 12, sub-section 2. However, the promoters failed to comply with the departmental orders, leading to the demolition of the infrastructure.
"The landowners and others involved in establishing this illegal colony did not seek the necessary permissions before setting it up, hence the action was taken," said DTP Rajesh Kumar.
He also urged the public to avoid investing in such unauthorised colonies and advised them to contact the DTP office before purchasing land. "Before constructing in controlled areas, individuals should apply through the Town and Country Planning Department’s portal for land use change permission. For further details, the DTP office can be contacted on working days," Kumar added.
