Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?

Deplorable state of Ambala sector unmissable

IN Sector 7 of Ambala City, all one can see is heaps of garbage, encroachments on footpaths by eateries, filthy drains with stagnant water, stray cattle feeding over the garbage, fresh digging of roads without completion of previous works, bikes moving around without silencers and stagnant water on roads because of tiles lying everywhere, among other things. Surprisingly, local BJP MLA and BJP district president have their residences in the same sector but nobody has questioned the status quo. Arun Kumar, Ambala city

Unfair comparison among doctors

IT is in response to a letter of Ramesh Gupta, Narwana, titled ‘Doctors minting money with time management skills’ published on December 18 in this section. The gentleman’s observation was unbalanced, for he compared Indian doctors with doctors practicing in the US. We need to understand that doctors who do their private practice here have entirely different environment from the ones practicing in the US. From what it looks like, after reading the letter, the doctor seems to have devoted his entire day in addressing the problems of his patients. For what it’s worth, if the patients are visiting the clinic daily in hordes, as the reader claims, then the doctor must be good at what he does. After all, no one is a fool to queue up in long lines for no good reason. Also, I wonder if the respectable gentleman knows about the ginormous difference between the fee charged by the US doctors and Indian doctors. Even fee from 150 patients won’t equal to the fee charged from one in the US. It’s a shame that such people can shell out money in a mall on junk food items, but never shy away from calling out a man charging for his expertise. Also, in the end, doctors, like others, have to sustain a living too. Dr Aditi M Singhal, Kurukshetra

MUTATION PENDING FOR FIVE YEARS

FORMER Chief Minister BS Hooda has described Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s raid in Karnal tehsil and suspension of four revenue officials as a gimmick. One is predisposed to agree with him when viewed in the context of a mutation of Pundri in Kaithal district which was pending before the Kaithal SDM for five years. It should have been disposed of within a period of two months, as the matter had been brought specifically to the notice of the Financial Commissioner Revenue, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. ID Kaushik, Panipat

RESPONSIVENESS OF JUDICIARY TO BLAME FOR HIKE IN CRIMES

AFTER the World Justice Report released its report this year, we need to question the poor responsiveness of judicial system. To my mind, it is the reason behind the slow growth of economy, which is heading towards recession. It is unfortunate that justice is not being delivered on time because of scarcity in manpower in the judicial system. Delay in justice gives a boost to the criminals and culprits in society. They commit crimes with a sense of impunity. For providing justice in time, we need to swear by the South Korean culture ‘Palli Palli’, which means to hurry up and be quick. Let’s hope the authorities concerned deliver justice without any delay. Prof MM Goel, Kurukshetra
