Depts showcase preparedness in Ambala, Kurukshetra dists

In view of the security concerns, mock drills were conducted at critical and strategical locations in Ambala and Kurukshetra on Wednesday evening.

Officials from the district administrations, Police Department, Health Department, and other departments participated in the mock drills.

Soon after the siren was sounded, employees and the officials of various departments swung into action and showed their preparedness in handling the situation.

Mock drills were conducted in Ambala at the SP office, Civil Hospitals in Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment. The instructor at the SP office showed the techniques to rescue the injured and save people during the air strike. A bicycle was used as a stretcher and the police personnel were told how to use a bicycle in the absence of stretcher. They were also told how to check the injuries of an injured and carry them accordingly.

At the hospitals, the Health Department showcased its preparedness to handle the critical situation and provide treatment to the injured. The Civil Surgeon, Ambala, said that the Health Department was fully prepared to handle critical situations. Meanwhile, announcements were made in the market areas alerting people about the mock drills.

Ambala Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer said the mock drills were conducted successfully. During the mock drill, it was demonstrated how critical situations were handled without panic.

In Kurukshetra, the mock drills were conducted at the new building of the Mini- Secretariat, panorama, and Brahma Sarovar. Similarly, mock drills were conducted in Pehowa, Shahabad and Ladwa blocks. During the mock drill at the Mini Secretariat, the police and Red Cross volunteers rescued the injured and took them to the ambulance through stretcher and controlled the fire inside the building with fire extinguishers.

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said under Operation Abhyas, mock drills were conducted in which people were rescued from fire and air strike and shifted to the hospital.

District Municipal Commissioner Satinder Siwach inspected the central control and monitoring system for streetlights installed at the MC office Thanesar. Satinder Siwach said, “There are 13,000 streetlights in the city and the lights will be controlled during the blackouts through the system.”
