Despite alliance with INLD, Kanda claims HLP still part of NDA

On September 12, the final day for filing nominations, a surprise alliance between INLD and Gopal Kanda’s Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) shocked the state. Adding to the drama, Kanda on Saturday claimed that his party is still part of the NDA.

Speaking to the media, Kanda stated that HLP has not officially broken ties with the NDA. He revealed that INLD leader Abhay Chautala approached him to join forces against the Congress in Sirsa, where Gokul Setia is the Congress candidate.

Kanda claimed that HLP would support INLD and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the constituencies of Ellenabad and Rania.

Kanda emphasised that HLP has a strong voter base in these regions, which could benefit INLD in their fight against the Congress. However, when asked about BJP fielding a candidate against him in Sirsa despite HLP being part of the NDA, Kanda acknowledged discussions took place but declined to disclose the details.

Earlier, INLD leader Abhay Chautala had expressed confidence in convincing Kanda to remain aligned with the INLD, despite HLP’s ties with the NDA.
