Ahead of the call by farmers’ organisations for a march to Delhi on February 13, DGP Shatrujit Kapoor today appealed to the general public to maintain peace, and not let law and order be disrupted by anyone.

Warning that strict action would be taken against those creating trouble, he said peace and brotherhood were necessary for the progress of the country. “Everyone has the right on every property of the country. If there is any damage, it is a collective loss,” he said.

Residents should not pay attention to rumours on social media, he said, adding that “the police administration will keep a close watch on social media. If any citizen spreads rumours, strict action will be taken against him.”

The police would share traffic and other updates on Twitter (@police_haryana, @DGPHaryana) and Facebook (Haryana Police). “Any kind of information or video that is harmful to the society should not be forwarded,” he added.
