State DGP OP Singh conducted a surprise inspection of Rohtak district today, and held a meeting with police and administrative officials at the SP's office. In an interaction with the media, the DGP said, "The police officials have no caste. They have only one caste: khaki." He stressed that the police should act impartially and sensitively.
Regarding the case of suicide by ASI Sandeep Lather, he said the SIT was investigating the matter.
In response to another question, he maintained that the complainants as well as police officials should exercise restraint. "Strict action is being taken against those who have filed false complaints," he stated.
The DGP said police personnel should not use force unless a criminal resorted to use of force against them. "However, if a criminal attacks, the policemen have complete freedom to protect themselves," he asserted.
Claiming that there is no fear of gangsters or criminals in Haryana, Singh said strict legal action was being taken against those who used inflammatory or abusive language on social media.
The DGP reviewed crime, law and order and other matters and directed the officers to provide better services to the public. He directed them to strengthen intelligence, thoroughly investigate cases, including those under the NDPS and Arms Act, and dismantle criminal networks.
"Expose the activities of those who incite riots through inflammatory speeches," he said.
Singh asked the police officers to take action and also write to Central agencies, such as the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax Department and the NIA, urging them to take action, as and when required.
He stressed that more police personnel should be visible on the streets.
