The DGP has issued a memo to all Commissioners of Police and SPs, including SP Railways, for posting only inspectors as SHOs. “It has come to our notice that the officials of SI rank and below are being posted as SHOs despite the availability of a substantial number of inspectors. It is not healthy,” he said. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
