Members of the Dhankhar Khap, the Haryana 12 Dhankhar Khap, the Humayunpur-Bakheta Gram Panchayat, and the family of murdered bodybuilder Rohit Dhankhar met DGP OP Singh today, seeking action in the case. The DGP assured them that arrests of the key accused would be made within a week.

Rohit was allegedly murdered after he intervened during a wedding function in Bhiwani. According to the family, he had accompanied his friend Jatin to the ceremony, where a group of guests, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, were “using abusive language and misbehaving with the girls.” Rohit cautioned them, saying, “Eat your food and don’t misbehave with the girls,” which sparked an attack that led to his brutal killing.

During the meeting, the family and panchayat members detailed their grievances, pointing to slow progress in the investigation, repeated delays in arrests, and gaps in administrative action. The DGP heard them out and assured that “there would be no further laxity in the matter.”

Singh immediately called Rohtak IG Samardeep Singh, Bhiwani SP Sumit, and other senior officers through a video call. He questioned them directly on why none of the main accused had been arrested despite several days having passed since the murder. The DGP demanded a timeline from the SP, who requested one week to complete the arrests. The DGP conveyed this commitment to the family and stated that all main accused would be arrested within the promised period.

He further instructed that proceedings to attach the properties of the absconding accused be initiated at once and that they be declared proclaimed offenders to ensure they “cannot escape the law under any circumstances.”

The DGP also sought updates on the drivers and occupants of the vehicles recovered by police and questioned whether action had been taken based on CCTV and video footage from the wedding. The SP informed him that the investigation was being carried out from all angles.

Additionally, the DGP directed the Rohtak IG to personally visit Rohit’s mother and assure her that concrete action would follow. He also ordered immediate deployment of a police jeep for the family's security.
