In a remarkable transformation, Government Senior Secondary School of Dhani Gopal village in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, has become a model of modern education, even outshining many private schools. Once a regular village school, it now features smart classrooms, digital screens, a computer lab, a modern library, RO drinking water, separate toilets for girls and a green and well-maintained campus.

The change began in 2019, when Headmaster Aggarsen Suthar took charge and initiated a campaign to involve the entire village in the school’s development. He, along with dedicated educators like Mukesh Kumar, Pradeep Bansal, Sitaram Sayal, and Ramesh Kumar, spread awareness about the importance of education. They urged villagers to support schools just like they supported temples. The community responded with enthusiasm, donating funds and materials to improve the school’s infrastructure.

Social worker Balbir Godara helped with initial funding for sanitation and basic facilities. Villagers installed dozens of ceiling fans, RO water systems and supported the beautification of the school. Sarpanch Reshma Godara and her husband Ram Kumar Godara played a key role in leading the movement. Under their guidance, the village treated the school as a temple for children’s future.

Reshma Godara, Sarpanch, Dhani Gopal said with continued community support, all classrooms were upgraded into smart classes, making learning more interactive and enjoyable. A rich library now helps the students prepare for competitive exams such as NDA, NMMS, and Super 100. In the 2022–23 Buniyad exam, the school produced 23 successful students, the highest in Haryana. In NMMS 2023, 11 students cleared the exam, which is a major achievement for a rural school, she added.

Godara further said, today, walking into Dhani Gopal school feels is like stepping into a modern campus. Clean classrooms, motivational slogans, scientific labs and green landscapes reflect the shared vision of teachers and villagers. Support from the Gorakhpur Nuclear Power Plant’s CSR initiative has also helped the school scale new heights, she added.

Notably, in 2023, the school received senior secondary status and under acting principal Mukesh Kumar, it further improved in discipline and academic quality. On Friday, Anil Verma took over as the new principal, continuing the journey forward.
