Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Digvijay Chautala launched a sharp attack on the state government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order, during his visit to Mullana in Ambala on Saturday. He was addressing party workers as part of JJP’s statewide membership drive, which aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots network and expand its youth base.

Condemning the recent surge in violent incidents, Chautala said the state was fast gaining notoriety as the “crime capital” of the country. “The youth of Haryana is disillusioned with the functioning of the BJP government. Criminals operate without fear — be it the daylight murder of a youth in Jind or the shooting of two sisters. Even liquor contractors are hesitant to bid for vends due to the deteriorating law and order,” he said.

He blamed the administrative failure on the weakening grip of the Chief Minister over the state’s affairs. “The CM seems to have no real control over the administration or bureaucracy, with decisions being dictated from Delhi. He must assert authority and govern independently,” he added.

Chautala didn’t hold back on the issue of unemployment, accusing the government of pushing Haryana’s youth into despair. “The BJP’s policies have alienated the youth. The government has not just failed to generate employment but has also started removing those hired under the HKRN (Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam) policy,” he said.

Calling for an energetic revival of the JJP, Digvijay urged party workers to connect with people directly. “Our membership drive has received a tremendous response. We’re identifying passionate individuals who are willing to work selflessly for the party and preparing a strong organisational structure,” he said. “I will personally visit all 90 Assembly constituencies over the next month to find committed individuals who can stay with us for the next 30 years.”

He revealed that a general body has already been formed and responsibilities have been assigned after detailed deliberations. The party aims to add over 5 lakh new members through this drive.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Chautala accused former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda of having a covert understanding with the BJP. “While we supported the BJP openly due to political compulsions, Hooda had a secret deal with them. Congress lost a golden opportunity to reclaim the people’s trust — and they won’t get another,” he said.
