A multi-layered cemented barricading, barbed wires and tyre busters, besides, the deployment of a heavy police and paramilitary force on the Ambala-Shambhu border will test the farm activists tomorrow.

After placing the cemented barricades, the spaces between the barricades were filled with fresh cement and iron rods to further strengthen the barricading. CCTV cameras have also been installed at the border to keep a watch on every activity.

A senior official overseeing the preparations said, “The cemented structure takes time to settle down and gain strength and it is one of the reasons why we are stopping the vehicular movement three days ahead of the farmers’ call. Though the structures are temporary, it will not be an easy task moving these aside.”

DSP Arshdeep Singh, who was at the Shambhu border, said, “A heavy barricading has been done and the paramilitary and Haryana armed police have been deployed. They have been assigned their checkpoints and guidelines have been issued.”

Ambala Deputy Commissioner Dr Shaleen said, “Heavy reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures have been placed at Shambhu to stop the farmers and ample force has been deployed to maintain the law and order situation. A close watch is being kept and a list of suspected people is being prepared.” Meanwhile, a video went viral on social media in which an announcement was being made at a village through a police PCR and the residents were being asked not to participate in the call else action would be taken against them.

Meanwhile, the Kurukshetra district administration has also imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the district. Kurukshetra SP Surinder Singh Bhoria said, “Barricades will be installed in Shahabad to stop the farmers. All required arrangements are being made.”

No expectations from govt

Farmers have also made adequate arrangements to break the barricades. We don’t have much expectations from the government and its delegation. If the government had anything to offer it would have already made the announcement and there would be no need for the Haryana Government to create such hurdles, said Tejveer Singh, spokesman, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh)

Concrete structures placed to stop them

Reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures have been placed at Shambhu to stop farmers and forces deployed to maintain the law and order situation, according to Dr Shaleen, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala
